Finally. . .

It has been far to long since I have updated this. For that I am sorry, but life has a funny way of taking over and squeezing out time you wish you had to do other things.

But, enough about me, this is all about Truckee. Can I just say he is the most freaking awesome dog I have ever had!

Truckee is truly a born and bred sled dog. He has the natural instinct to pull, and he is ready mentally (though he's not quite physically ready just yet). We've been going out and playing, and this weekend we went out with the jogging stroller, and this dog just wants to try to pull. So, it is definitely time to let him play with a harness on and get used to wearing the harness and pulling light weights.

And, just watching this dog run is awesome. It is absolutely beautiful to watch him run because he looks so much like what you expect a sled dog to look like. I know I shouldn't be surprised, I mean, he is a sled dog after all. But, still I think it is awesome to watch.

Well, enough yammering by me. Here are some pictures.

Sorry I haven't added anything lately...

Ugh, I spent most of the week in Las Vegas. Hopefully soon all my traveling will be over. Until then, unfortunately, I only really have time to update on weekends.

But, let's get to the good stuff, Truckee and Gabriel. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I totally agree. I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

First night...

Well, it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Don't get me wrong, I've been awake since 3:30, but, I can't blame beautiful dear boy Truckee for that since I'm now sitting at the airport on my way to Las Vegas, hopefully for the last long trip for a while.

He did amazing. He slept beautifully in his crate and would wake us up to go potty. The first time, we were just thinking...oooh, here it starts. But, I thought maybe he needs to go potty. Sure enough. Carried him outside, and as soon as his feet hit the ground he piddled. I carried him back inside and placed him back in his crate and we all went back to sleep for 6 hours. Not bad. 3:30 he woke up again. This time Chet took him out and he piddled. But, when he was back in his crate he was still whinning. So I took him back out and sure enough, he had to still go potty.

We all were back and cozy in our beds when 4:30 rolled around, and neither Chet or I was back to sleep. But, that was my wake up call to get ready to head to the airport. I think I goofed when I turned out a light in the living room, which Truckee could see. At that point, he was ready to get up and out. Oops. So after one more trip outside to make sure he didn't still have to go potty, I left him on the bed with Chet.

Oooh, lordy....see Chet has alergies to too much dander. So we make an effort to keep the dog off the bed. At least we did with Madison. We'll see, Truckee may have just broken through that barrier.

There's so much more to share, but right now I'm too tired, I was just impressed to get 6 hours of uninterupted sleep last night. Good news.

T-minus 24 hours until Puppy Truckee arrives.

The weekend was spent getting our house ready for the puppy. We have de-junked, cleaned, and organized our lives once again. It is amazing how much crap you can accumulate in a small house, and we have no idea where all the crap comes from. Alas, two to three bags of goodwill clothing donations later, we have thinned down our wardrob. Now, Truckee has a spot of his own at the foot of our bed. The food arrived and we're expecting the rest of his goodies to show up tomorrow. So, it is all just wonderful and good.

Now, we just can't wait for him to get here.

Today Cheryl, the breeder whom we're getting Truckee from left to go get him. It is so exciting.

Two hundred pounds of food showed up at the door step, litterally, today. All we're waiting for now is the crate and toys to show. Those are scheduled to be here no later than Tuesday, the day he gets here.

So, the countdown begins... 4 days until Truckee is home!

8 Week Picture!!
